MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team continues its season-opening road swing with a trip to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, for a dual meet against Central Michigan. Competition inside CMU’s McGuirk Arena is tabbed for 1 p.m. ET.

The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+, while live stats are available at WVUsports.com.

Sunday’s contest marks the fifth meeting between West Virginia and the Chippewas, as well as the second in the last three seasons. The series between the two teams is tied at 2-2, with the Mountaineers winning the most recent meeting on March 5, 2023. In that contest, WVU reached its third-highest score in program history with a 197.325, while CMU posted a 196.5.

In this week’s Road to Nationals rankings, the Mountaineers rank No. 29 overall in the first rankings of the 2025 season. Their highest event ranking is on floor, where they sit No. 11 after reaching a meet-high 48.975 in the season opener on Jan. 4. WVU also ranks in the top 25 on vault (20) and bars (23). Individually, sophomore Amber Lowe is tied for No. 6 on floor exercise, while freshman Sophia Rice is tied for No. 15 on vault.

Of note, Rice was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week on Jan. 6, after earning a 9.85 on vault and her first event win in her Mountaineer debut against Temple in the season opener. She became the first WVU gymnast to receive the honor since Chloe Asper in 2021.

Last time out, WVU posted a team score of 193.6 to top Temple (191.2) in the season opener. West Virginia tallied scores of 48.6 on vault, 48.675 on uneven bars, 47.35 on balance beam and 48.975 on floor exercise. On the podium, Rice earned a win on vault with a 9.85, while junior Miranda Smith secured a third-place finish with a score of 9.75. On bars, fifth-year senior Trinity Macy and seniors Brooke Alban and Anna Leigh tied for first place with matching scores of 9.775. Sophomores Julia Brown and Kaylei Adams tied for first on beam with a pair of 9.8 scores. On floor, Lowe scored a 9.875 to secure first place, while classmate Jurnee Lane tied for second place with a 9.825.
