MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 15-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team is set to wrap up home nonconference action on Friday, Dec. 6, when they take on East Tennessee State inside the WVU Coliseum on Morgantown.
 
Tipoff against the Buccaneers is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET, and gates open at 9:30 a.m. The contest against ETSU will be broadcast live on the Mountaineer Sports Network, including 100.9 WZST-FM, with Andrew Caridi on the call. Fans also can listen to the game on the Varsity Network App.
 
Additionally, Friday’s game will be broadcast on ESPN+, with Nick Farrell and Meg Bulger on the call. Live stats and game notes are available on WVUsports.com.
 
Tickets for the contest can be purchased at WVUGAME.com or by visiting the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located inside the Gold Gate of the WVU Coliseum. The contest will serve as education day at the WVU Coliseum.
 
The matchup will be the third first-ever meeting between WVU (8-1) and East Tennessee State (4-4).
 
West Virginia has won 34 straight nonconference home contests dating back to the 2017-18 season. Mark Kellogg is a perfect 20-1 in regular-season nonconference games as head coach of the Mountaineers.
 
ESTU enters the contest on a three-game win streak after opening the season with a 1-4 record. Most recently, the Bucs defeated Memphis, 78-71, as Courtney Moore scored 25 and Braylyn Milton posted her 7th double-digit game of the season.
 
Milton averages 11.8 points per game to lead ETSU. Meghan Downing leads the Bucs with 7.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks and Courtney Moore dishes out 2.7 assists.
 
Senior guard JJ Quinerly (18.6), junior guard Jordan Harrison (15.2), and junior guard Sydney Shaw (13.0) pace the Mountaineers scoring production this season. Harrison’s 5.2 assists per game leads WVU and ranks 38th in the country. Senior guard Kyah Watson has grabbed 8.0 rebounds per game which ranks eighth in the Big 12.
 
The Big 12’s leaders in steals last season, Watson (28), Quinerly (27) and Harrison (18), are at it again this season averaging over two steals per contest. Senior guard Sydney Woodley has also gotten in on the action with 21 steals this season. The Mountaineers’ 15.3 steals per game are the best in the Big 12.  
 
The Mountaineers have forced 20+ turnovers in eight games this season, to average 27.0 per game as the mark ranks fourth in the nation and third among Power Four programs. The Mountaineers have forced 30-plus turnovers in four games, including a season-high 44. WVU ranks fifth in the nation with 15.3 steals per game and holds a +11.5 turnover margin.
 
The Mountaineers are averaging 86.7 points per game while outscoring their opponents by an average of 36.4 points.
 
Senior guard JJ Quinerly looks to break into the top 10 in points scored in a career and the top five in steals. She currently sits 13th in points at 1,531 and 7th in steals with 258. Harrison sits at 995 points for her career.
