MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 15-ranked West Virginia University women’s basketball team is set to play in their first of five nationally televised contests this weekend against Temple. The Mountaineers and the Owls are set to compete on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET inside the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
 
The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 with Pam Ward and Stephanie White on the call. Fans can also listen to the game on the Mountaineer Sports Network, including 100.9 WZST-FM, with Andrew Caridi on the call. It will also be available on the Varsity Network App.

The matchup is the Mountaineers’ first true road game of the season and will be the 32nd meeting between WVU (9-1) and Temple (5-3). West Virginia is 25-6 all-time against Temple, including a 10-1 mark on the road. The pair met 30 times from 1981-1995 when the two were a part of the Atlantic 10 conference. The latest meeting came during the 2014-15 season when WVU defeated the Owls, 66-58, inside the WVU Coliseum.
 
In true road nonconference game WVU is 1-0 under head coach Mark Kellogg. Over the last two seasons, the Mountaineers are 21-1 in regular-season nonconference games.  
 
Temple enters the contest on a two-game win streak after opening the season with a 3-3 record. Most recently, the Owls defeated Villanova, 76-62, as Tiarra East scored 26 and three others finished in double-figures.
 
Tiarra East averages 16.6 points per and 4.6 assists game to lead Temple. Anissa Rivera leads the Owls with 8.4 rebounds and 2.3 steaks and 1.0 blocks while Tristen Taylor dishes out 4.6 assists.
 
Senior guard JJ Quinerly (18.6), junior guard Jordan Harrison (15.4), and junior guard Sydney Shaw (13.2) pace the Mountaineers scoring production this season. Harrison’s 5.2 assists per game leads WVU and ranks 40th in the country. Senior guard Kyah Watson has grabbed 8.0 rebounds per game which ranks eighth in the Big 12.
 
The Big 12’s leaders in steals last season, Watson (32), Quinerly (27) and Harrison (20), are at it again this season averaging over two steals per contest. Senior guard Sydney Woodley has also gotten in on the action with 21 steals this season. The Mountaineers’ 15.6 steals per game are the best in the Big 12 and third in the nation.  
 
The Mountaineers have forced 20+ turnovers in nine games this season, to average 27.2 per game as the mark ranks fourth in the nation and third among Power Four programs. The Mountaineers have forced 30-plus turnovers in five games, including a season-high 44 against Niagara. WVU ranks fifth in the nation with a +10.8-turnover margin.
 
The Mountaineers are averaging 86.5 points per game while outscoring their opponents by an average of 37.3 points.
 
Senior guard JJ Quinerly looks to break into the top 10 in points scored in a career and the top five in steals. She currently sits 13th in points at 1,531 and 7th in steals with 258. Harrison sits at 995 points for her career.
