MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s team will face Xavier and Michigan State in the team’s first road action of the 2025 season this weekend.

West Virginia (2-0) will face Xavier at noon on Saturday, Jan. 25, and Michigan State at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26. Both matches will take place at the MSU Tennis Center in East Lansing, Michigan.

The Mountaineers began the 2025 season by sweeping Duquesne and Morgan State in Morgantown on Jan. 18. West Virginia battled Duquesne, winning 4-3, while it dominated Morgan State, 7-0.

In her WVU debut, Morgantown native, freshman Lyla Byers, finished 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles play against Duquesne and Morgan State.

Senior Mille Haagensen was tremendous, finishing 2-0 in the No. 1 seed spot. Redshirt junior Maja Dodik found a rhythm in the No. 4 spot, winning both matches.

Graduate student Julie Bousseau and freshman Susannah Su earned their first wins for WVU as Bousseau picked up a win as the No. 2 seed against Morgan State. Su won in the No. 6 seed match against the Bears.

West Virginia has only met Michigan State once, losing in 2022. The Mountaineers have never faced Xavier.
