MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Graduate student Sergio Ors Navarro of the West Virginia University men’s soccer team has been named a semifinalist for the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy.

The Castellon, Spain native is one of 15 semifinalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which is the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer and has been awarded annually since 1967.

Three men’s finalists will be named for the award on Wednesday, Dec. 18 after voting by NCAA Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. The 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy winner will then be announced at a press conference at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 3, 2025, followed by a dinner to celebrate all of the 2024 finalists.

Ors Navarro is just the second WVU men’s soccer player to be named a semifinalist, joining Jarrod Smith in 2006. He is looking to become the second winner in West Virginia history after women’s soccer standout Kadeisha Buchanan won in 2016.

In his fifth season with the Mountaineers, Ors Navarro was named the Sun Belt Player and Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 15 goals, the most by a Mountaineer since 1995. He led the Sun Belt and was fourth in the nation in goals while finishing fifth in the country with 34 points. He was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region First Team.

Ors Navarro was the only player to start all 22 games for the Mountaineers and led WVU to a 13-2-7 overall record, winning the Sun Belt regular season and tournament titles, the first in program history.
