The No. 1 Oregon football team is playing a top-3 ranked team for the second time this season, but is still a favorite in the upcoming Big Ten championship against Penn State on Saturday in Indianapolis.

The Ducks (12-0, 9-0 Big Ten) are looking to clinch a bye in the upcoming College Football Playoff with a win, while the Nittany Lions (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten) are looking to avoid having to potentially host a first-round playoff game.

Saturday’s 5 p.m. game will air on CBS.

At BetMGM, as of Thursday, the Ducks are a 3.5-point favorite. Oregon is -185 on the moneyline while Penn State is +150. The over/under (point total) is set at 49.5.

For just the second time this year, ESPN’s matchup predicting index expects the Ducks to lose, giving Penn State a 54% chance to win by a slight margin.

Pick: Penn State by 1.3 points, 54% win probability

“(Penn State) thinks they were potentially going to host a home playoff game. This is a team that’s traditionally been in the Big Ten, I think it means a little bit more for them. I wonder about the psychology about having that freebie in the back of your mind, like you don’t have to win this game. Dan Lanning has been such a master motivator of this squad, but I don’t know if he has the tricks up his sleeve.”

Pick: Penn State covers 3.5-point spread, under 50.5 total (at time of recording)

“I’ve got more trust in Oregon, in Dillon Gabriel, in the Ducks to be able to go in and get those scoring drives that you need to win championship games than I am do in Drew Allar. If you are able to take Tyler Warren out of the game, what is the counterpunch there for Penn State?”

Pick: Oregon to win and cover the spread

“Oregon the entire year and for the last two months at least, have pictured themselves playing Ohio State in this position, have prepared for Ohio State … Penn State sneaks into the mix because Michigan throws a wrench in things. I think Penn State has prepared for this and they’re ready.”

Pick: Penn State to win and under on 49.5-point total

“I don’t think this line is indicative of this matchup. I look at the struggles that Penn State has had against teams like Oregon. I look at the sound nature that Oregon has, I don’t think they’re going to flinch. They have an experienced quarterback, 3.5 is not enough. I like Oregon winning the Big Ten championship.

Pick: Oregon wins, 31-21, and covers spread
