MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 22 West Virginia University wrestling team will host the No. 13 Iowa State Cyclones in a top 25 clash on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 7 p.m. ET at the WVU Coliseum on ESPN+.

“We have a huge opportunity this week against a top 15 team,” head coach Tim Flynn said. “We may only be favored in one match, so that gives us a lot of chances to knock off some highly ranked kids.”

This match marks the team’s first home Big 12 dual of the 2024-25 season. West Virginia (7-1, 1-1 Big 12) most recently defeated Princeton, 27-12, on Jan. 4.

In last year’s meeting, the Mountaineers lost to the Cyclones in Ames, Iowa, 29-11. West Virginia’s last win against Iowa State came in 2017.

With a win, WVU would start 8-1 through its first nine duals for the second consecutive season. Last year’s 8-1 start was the program’s first since 1990.

West Virginia’s starting lineup features four ranked wrestlers with fifth-year Peyton Hall leading the way at No. 3 in the 165-pound class. Redshirt junior Jordan Titus (141) is ranked No. 32, redshirt sophomore Brody Conley (174) is No. 29 and redshirt senior Dennis Robin (184) is No. 23.
