MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Student-athletes from the West Virginia University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams finished competition at the United States Open Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Sophomore Maddie Smutny was the lone Mountaineer in the A final as she competed in the women’s 200-yard butterfly. Smutny touched the wall at 1:59.65 to place fourth.
Redshirt senior Danny Berlitz qualified for the B final the men’s 200 breaststroke with a final time of 2:00.86. Sophomore Ian McKinney touched the wall at 1:49.78 in the men’s 200 butterfly to qualify for the B final.
