MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Six members of the West Virginia University rifle team competed at the 2024 Winter Air Gun Championships on Saturday and Sunday.
The Mountaineers collected six podium finishes and added two more inside the top five at the event in the open and junior divisions.
Freshman Camryn Camp finished on top of the open division to be named the Women’s Air Rifle Winter Air Gun Champion. She also added a third-place finish in the junior division. In qualifying she produced a 627.4 and a 624.7 to total 1,252.1 total points.
Senior Gavin Barnick also cracked the podium, finishing in second place in the men’s open division. He scored a 1,259.0 in qualifying which was the second-highest mark. He scored a 628.7 on the opening day and a 630.3 on day two.
Sophomore Griffin Lake claimed first place in the men’s junior division and added a fifth-place finish in the open division. He scored a qualifying mark of 1255.7. Freshman Jacob Wisman finished just behind in second place in the junior division with a qualifying score of 1,249.4. He also posted the top mark in the under-18 division.
Freshman Ashlyn Blake produced a second-place finish in the junior division and also claimed the best mark in the under-18 division. She added a fifth-place finish in the open division to round out her weekend. She scored a mark of 1,253.6 points in qualifying.
