MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team is set to begin its 2025 spring season on Monday, Feb. 3 and Tuesday, Feb. 4 at the Battle at Briar’s Creek in Johns Island, South Carolina.

Fourteen teams are scheduled to compete, including the host College of Charleston. Joining WVU and College of Charleston will be Wake Forest, NC State, High Point, Maryland, VCU, UAB, East Tennessee State, Clemson, Augusta, Chattanooga, Elon and Campbell.

“It’s been more than three months since our last tournament, so I’m excited to see how our guys perform in our spring season opener,” coach Sean Covich said. “We had a very disappointing fall season, but I think our guys used that disappointment as a wakeup call and motivation to make some changes and get better over the winter break.”

The Mountaineers will tee off Monday morning at 8:45 a.m. ET at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek. Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday on the par 72, 7,175-yard course.

Seniors Todd Duncan, Max Green and Pierce Grieve along with juniors Carson Kammann and Kaleb Wilson will represent the Mountaineers at the event. The top four scorers will count towards West Virginia’s overall team score. Two Mountaineers – Hugh Donegan and Ryan Leach – will compete as individuals at The Links at Stono Ferry in Hollywood, South Carolina.

“This particular starting lineup as a lot of potential with three of the five having already won collegiate tournaments, while the other two captured their State Am or State Open titles last summer,” Covich said. “With three seniors and two juniors, it will be our most experienced lineup of the season.”
