MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Five members of the West Virginia University men’s soccer team have been named All-Southeast Region by United Soccer Coaches.
A trio of graduate students – forward Sergio Ors Navarro, defender Max Broughton, and midfielder Ryan Baer – all earned spots on the first team while junior forward Marcus Caldeira and redshirt-senior goalkeeper Marc Bonnaire were named to the second team.
It matches the most all-region selections for the Mountaineers in program history, set last season. Caldeira repeats as an All-Region performer while it is the first selection for the other four players.
Ors Navarro was named the Sun Belt Player and Offensive Player of the Year after finishing fourth in the nation and leading the Sun Belt with 15 goals this season, the most by a Mountaineer since 1995. He also added four assists to give him 34 points on the year, fifth-most in the country.
Baer played 20 games with 19 starts for West Virginia in the midfield this season and was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team for the first time in 2024. He finished his career after playing in 92 games over five years with 87 starts, the most in program history. He contributed to a strong Mountaineer defense and added one assist on the year.
Broughton played in 22 games with 21 starts, leading all Mountaineer field players with 1,874 minutes played this season. The All-Sun Belt first team selection anchored a back line that produced 10 shutouts and allowed just 3.04 shots on goal per game while also contributing with an assist on the offensive end of the field.
Caldeira tallied 11 goals this season and was named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team, the second All-Conference honor of his career. It adds to his list of career accolades which includes All-America honors and being named the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Academic All-America Team Member of the Year.
Bonnaire made 21 starts for the Mountaineers in goal this season, going 13-2-6 on the year. He collected nine shutouts while allowing just 1.09 goals per game. He made 40 saves on the year en route to being named to the All-Sun Belt second team.
