MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt senior Danny Berlitz earned a United States Open Championship title in the men’s 400-yard individual medley at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Friday.
The Drums, Pennsylvania, native earned a spot in the A final after placing eighth in the prelims. In the final, Berlitz used a spectacular swim to win the event, touching the wall at 3:46.51.
In the B final of the men’s 100-yard breaststroke, senior Jake Young placed sixth with a final time of 54.48.
On the women’s side, junior Gabriela Martin placed fourth in the 200-yard freestyle B final, touching the wall at 1:50.56.
To finish the night, senior Justin Heimes represented WVU in the 100-yard backstroke. He finished fourth with a final time of 47.72.
