Join a panel of industry experts at SPORTEL Monaco 2024 as they dive into the business of creating blockbuster sports docuseries. The panel will focus on the commercial strategies that drive these productions, from securing production and distribution deals to maximising audience engagement and return on investment (ROI).

This session will reveal the key factors that turn compelling sports narratives into profitable, global entertainment phenomena.

There will be a focus on the power of docuseries to boost a sports property’s commercial rights income, but also the long-term benefits of sowing seeds with an entirely different demographic of viewers.

The panel will also talk about the process – getting buy-in from stakeholders and athletes; finding the right production company; finding the right distributor; the business model as a standalone; and how it can potentially knit into the live aspect with Netflix and other platforms, moving further into the live realm.

Moderated by Callum McCarthy, editor-in-chief of SportBusiness, the panel will feature three experts from the sports media world:

  • Tom Jeffs, vice president business development, PGA Tour
  • James Lord, director of broadcasting, World Athletics
  • Georgette Schlick, CEO Northern Europe, Fremantle

For this and more, we look forward to seeing you at Speakers Corner, Sportel Monaco on Monday 28 October, 13:45 – 14:30.
